Dr. Zlotnik, who was a Schillinger disciple, taught us how to arrive at these scales just by combining the 4 common tetrachords and it was shocking how many of these scales sounded musical though utterly uncommon. Also interesting were the resulting scale tone chords that resulted. So George's advice is excellent- make up a scale and let your ear be your guide!sadly factualhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15318352924547733069noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1713397068832099475.post-60160037827359554642011-04-04T09:25:55.090-07:002011-04-04T09:25:55.090-07:00This comment has been removed by the author.sadly factualhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15318352924547733069noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1713397068832099475.post-87459395772799707892011-04-02T09:40:08.801-07:002011-04-02T09:40:08.801-07:00whoah ok that scale is totally foreign to me. wou...whoah ok that scale is totally foreign to me. would definitely be interested in a fuller blog post on it. not sure what the best way is to think of it. i guess 3 semi-tone clusters, each a tone apart... will play around with this scale a bit to get the sound in my head...zibalatzhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04003765701553033282noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1713397068832099475.post-81054044469048511932011-04-01T06:13:27.482-07:002011-04-01T06:13:27.482-07:00Nice post. I might have to blog about that one as well.....actually, if there wasn't an Ab in that voicing, you could use diminished scale. But like I said, rules were meant to be broken, so you could try diminished as well. <br />E F# G A Bb C Db Eb E. Or maybe make up a scale. Yes, I said make up a scale.George Colliganhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11277569607502834278noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1713397068832099475.post-89697951679021093362011-03-30T23:25:11.726-07:002011-03-30T23:25:11.726-07:00Awesome! What scale are you associating with that last chord? Ab harmonic minor?zibalatzhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04003765701553033282noreply@blogger.com
